Thanks For Not Loving Me …

Not getting
the reciprocal love
could also be
a blessing;

I can’t thank you much,
for, how would I’ve resisted
the pull of your quagmired
affection, had you shown some?
And I’d have lost
to you, all my worth;
the concern I owe
to a world dying
below the poverty line
of love.

Though its hard to tame
a fretful heart
craving to taste
what it gave.

Yet, the pain of
your separation
doesn’t kill, as such,
hence ..
I can’t thank you much …

    That’s either sarcasm or your typical optimism about not getting enough love!

    By the way, it’s true. The more one is used to something the more it hurts after losing!

    Very nice Aadil. Maybe this is the stage when the person is tired of all that he has gone through and all he has experienced, and is now content with having no love at all.

  4. @ compulsivewriter .. Thank you so much! Thanks for stumbling by my blog🙂

    @ Ria … Thanks … I too am not but a wanna be🙂

    @ farhan … Yes, that could be a thought associated with the poem yet I didn’t want to sound pessimistic about the events the future might unfold. Thanks for the comment🙂

    I always say – Its better to be not loved and dumped than to be with a person who stays with you out of some pity or sense of responsibility. No relationship is better than a loveless one.

    I meant – NOT HAVING A REALTIONSHIP is better than BEING IN A LOVELESS RELATIONSHIP.

    Missed out a couple of words in there – My typing getting rusty!🙂

  9. @ AJ … But I’ve heard its better to love and be rejected than not to love at all. The pain in rejection could stimulate something positive in a lover. One can’t put oneself in a specific category though🙂

    @ Shivya .. Thank you so much🙂

  10. So, do I have your permission to pen it down & send it to someone I once knew. I want to, really !😉
    The poem is very witty, I must say. And I loved the lines:
    “And I’d have lost
    to you, all my worth;
    the concern I owe
    to a world dying
    below the poverty line
    of love.”
    The end is superb !!🙂

    @ Asma Ahsan
    I share Aadil’s perspective on “better to ve loved & lost than never to ve loved at all”
