Foes And Friends

I chose to be my foe

when I stepped in

the quagmire of your eyes

which pulled me like

a dear friend into

its shadowy oasis

from the scorching heat

of reality, placing me

in the comforts of

your heart for eternity.

  3. @one could only wish for the world inside to come alive as nothing could please us like our souls. But we can’t deviate from our instinct of longing. Ah! the longing! πŸ™‚
    Thank you! πŸ™‚

You didn’t post it on chowk, did you? It’s good, but I don’t get the first verse; it seems to be in complete contrast with the theme of the rest of the poem. 😦

  5. @shobig .. I guess I did! The contrast you mentioned is the gist of the poem. I asked for trouble when I stepped in a quagmire which in turn proved to be an affectionate friend and let me rest in an everlasting comfort. In a humurous context, you expected to be greeted by sandals which came out to be red red roses πŸ˜‰

Oh ok, I thought the first verse was an outcome of ‘falling in and out of love’. So if I understand it correctly now, it reflects your state of mind at the point of love’s inception, while you still bask in its comforts. Good one!

  8. Oh .. so very thanks, Aarzoo! πŸ™‚
    Your blog is very impressive!

    And yes, Aazroo reminds me of some popular urdu verses like;

umr-e-daraz mang kay laye thay char din,
dau aarzoo may kat gaye dau intizaar may ..

Yeh aarzoo thi tujhe gul kay roobroo kartay,
hum aur bulbul-e-baitaab guftgoo kartay ..

Aarzoo hay keh too yahan aaye
aur phir umr bhar na jaye kahin .. πŸ™‚
