This blog is a beast
as it craves and craves to eat
thought after a poor thought
of my famished mind;
since I’m a person very kind,
I don’t hesitate to feed
it with trans-creations
of the others’ mind
to help it grow
with its greedy ways ..
The Decision
I too gave up
the desire to reach the shore.
I too resigned myself
to the [...]

The gifts of Globalization are many, so are its curses like colonization, wars and monopolies but since I’m sick of the wars and violence around, I deemed it appropriate to resort to poetry. Incidentally, the name of the below translated poem is also ‘Globalization’ which thankfully is having a different context.
In this modern age of [...]

The flowers on your
embroidered dopatta would
remain fresh,
(like the ones I would place
in your locks)
soaked in the midnight rains
of your eyes;
now, sighs, that formed
the thick rain-clouds
are no more to rise
as you trample the wilted
leaves of our blooming love
evoking thoughts
of an autumn that came too soon
P.S: I was taken by a pleasant surprise to see a publication [...]

We are built
to be eroded
with the blows of time.
Now when I lose a piece
here or a chunk there,
I hold it tight, the treasure of
love, kept in the safety of heart
sealed with ego;
just don’t hand time
the stilettos of your lashes
to exhume it.
Preserved, this love
will mock the vicious ways
of our fate,
that crumbs us to death
after luring us [...]

In Pushto by Rahim Khan Majrooh
Translation by Aadil Omer
The events of the last connection
of our relation were so sudden,
so ephemeral that I couldn’t sense it.
I can’t remember what we talked about last
except the words that you uttered,
‘I leave you to the protection of God,
‘You leave me to the protection of God.’
In a state of shock, [...]

Slumber in the shades
of your locks is naivete
hence I walk deep in
to the core of your soul
to heal my dreams away
from the piercing claws
of the sunbeams.
Night, o’ night,
why can’t you fight
that big, burning beast
who gnaws at your dark self
bit by bit, reducing you
to nothing.
Unlike you, I won’t
expose you to the perils
of the day; come dwell
in [...]

This poem called Marriage A’la Mode by Sajjad Shaikh taken from the anthology ‘Pakistani Literature’ proves the notion of ’slow and steady …’ wrong. I like this stark, sarcastic and somehow melancholic poem. Hope you too will like it.

Yes, the only one who gave me a [...]
